Neuropsychology is a specialty within psychology that focuses on how brain functioning relates to thinking, learning, memory, attention, emotions, and behavior. Neuropsychological evaluations help clarify cognitive strengths and challenges and guide recommendations for school, work, and daily life.

Evaluations on infants can begin as early as three weeks old and we see older adults up to 90 years old. And everyone in between.

We provide both in-person and virtual options. Performance testing typically needs to be completed in-person, however, other aspects of the evaluation can be completed virtually. HIPAA compliant videoconferencing platform, SimplePractice, is used for virtual session portions.

Consultation services are offered in both formats as well.

Evaluations involve a few steps: consenting and clinical interview session (typically 1-1.5 hours; in-person or virtual); review of records (if available); performance testing (typically varies on referral question/individual and can range from 2-8 hours; majority in-person and can be completed over a few sessions if needed); scoring and report writing completed by psychologist; and feedback session to review results and recommendations (typically 1-1.5 hours; in-person or virtual). Collaboration with school or other providers would also be separate sessions, with or without individual (typically 1-1.5 hours; in-person or virtual).

Reports are typically completed within 2–4 weeks after testing, followed by a feedback session. However, time can vary depending on a few factors, such as complexity, scheduling needs, etc.

Depends on what your goal is for the evaluation or what you’d like to do with your results/information.

For instance, if you suspect a learning disability and the testing confirms this, we can then recommend ways to learn while you are in school (i.e., extra time on tests/homework assignment, private room for testing, note taker, etc.).

Or you can share your results with other providers, such as a primary care provider, neurologist, or psychotherapist, etc., to help support your health and coordinate your care. We can also meet with your providers if you’d like for us to review your findings.

Unfortunately, we do not. We are a private pay only practice. However, we can offer a superbill for you to submit to your insurance provider.

We do reserve a portion of slots in our practice for need-based reduced fee which ranges. Please call us to discuss availability of reduced fee slots.

We offer pricing based on service type and complexity. After an initial conversation, we’ll provide a transparent quote with no hidden costs.

All major credit cards are accepted. Payment is required at the time service is provided. For instance, if completing an evaluation you can pay ½ before the clinical interview session and the other ½ before the feedback session.

We require at least 24 hours' notice for canceling or rescheduling. Late cancelations (less than 24 hours) and missed sessions will be charged a fee not reimbursed by insurance.

We offer services Monday through Friday during regular business hours.

We are conveniently located off highway I-880, near the West Oakland BART station (located about 1 mile away), and the Oakland Ferry Terminal (located about .5 miles away). AC Transit also provides bus service in the vicinity. We have a free parking lot at Portobello Suites Office.

Yes, and we are located on the ground level with a ramp. Bathrooms are also ADA.
